Mércék a bevándorlók integrációjában

Be Naturalised – Or Become a Citizen?
One of the main aims of this project was to explore the complex relationship between integration, identity and existing naturalisation procedures in the participant EU countries. Still, in most EU countries the naturalisation rates vary between 1 and 10 per cent of the whole non-native population, with the high rates being scored often in the Nordic countries and some new member states (OECD 2007: International Migration Outlook). The leading questions which drove our research were: How do existing naturalisation procedures with their various prerequisites and instruments such as tests or ceremonies affect integration? How can migrants be addressed as active citizens in the naturalisation process? How can naturalisation be connected with participation and intercultural aspects? And furthermore, what role does the process of European integration play in national naturalisation procedures?2009-12-21 | migransintegacio.hu

Migrant policy and Muslim integration in France. Comparing theory with practice.
In this paper Muslim integration into Western societies is the main topic, in this case the French and the Dutch society. After a short historical introduction, a theory on identity and migration is studied. Further on in the paper a sketch is given of the history of French and Dutch immigrant policy and of problems that these countries face and have faced during mainly the last five to ten years. These problems and the origin of these problems are compared with the theory of Fukuyama. It is argued that a lot of the problems concerning migrant integration that are faced in Western societies nowadays, might not have appeared if a different approach to these migrants was adopted.2009-12-03 | migransintegracio.hu
Integration of migrants. Contribution of and regional authorities.
This conceptual paper is intended to create the framework for implementing a proposed project, involving cooperation between local and regional actors in the area of integration policy at the local level. The paper first analyses the meaning of the term ‘integration’ and locates it in the context of other concepts prominent in the discourse on immigrant integration. The paper also analyses documents, statements and opinions published by key political actors at the European level regarding integration and the role that they assign to local authorities. It does not include an analysis of the integration policies, the migration history and the related paradigm for integration policies of European Member States. Furthermore, the study does not provide examples of integration measures on the local level, as implemented in European cities. Both will be discussed in a separate analytical study, which provides examples of integration policies, complementing the conceptual approach of this paper.
